Course description

This course is for you if you are familiar with the topics covered in the Introduction to Macros and want to further develop your coding skills in Excel.


Writing Macros involves inputting lines of sometimes complex program code, so the course involves considerably more typing than other Excel training.


 


 

Training objectives

This course assumes that delgates are familiar with:



  • entering formulas, using functions and performing data analysis in Excel topics covered in the Introduction to Macros course

  • using the VBA Editor and Macro recorder

  • working with Excel objects, properties, methods, variables, message boxes, writing formulas, using IF


 


 


 

Learning outcomes

This course build on the skills learnt in the Introduction to Macros course.


By the end of the course you will know how to:



  • develop more complex macros

  • how to open and close files

  • how to loop through sections of code repeatedly until a condition is met

  • handle errors that occur when your code is running

  • write your own functions to use in worksheet formulas

  • programme Excel to respond to events such as right-clicking on a worksheet
