Course description

This session will be delivered remotely via Microsoft Teams. Once your place is confirmed please take note of the joining instructions under Additional Information (below).

At East Sussex Council, you work with the public, clients, suppliers and colleagues.

You give them the best services and information possible.

But sometimes, people do the wrong things and consequently there are occasional conflicts that need to be managed.

Many people don’t like handling conflict, because they don’t know how to do it.

We know that mismanaged conflict can be very costly.

Conflict situations need to be handled properly.

So, how can we best resolve conflicts; quickly, easily, and without too much negative emotion?

Training objectives

Who would benefit from this course?

You will benefit from this course if:

  • You have to handle strong, confident characters that you find difficult.

  • You sometimes “come on too strong” and thus make a bad situation, worse.

  • You sometimes evade and delay handling the conflict in an attempt to “keep the peace”.

  • You believe that conflict can sometimes be based on miscommunication

  • You think that if you say nothing the situation will resolve itself.

  • You wait and wait and wait....and then explode.

  • You are not sure when it is right and when it is NOT right, to compromise.

If any of the above descriptions fit you, then you should attend this course.
