Code: ESC/20/74 Services 2 Schools 2020 Conference

The 2020 Services 2 Schools Conference is now ready to take bookings. The team have been working hard on creating a conference that builds on the themes explored last year, putting into practice and extending the idea of how we think creatively, have clarity on our purpose and how we can better effectively work together for the benefit of the children in our schools.

For the first time, we are opening the morning session up to Headteachers, giving you the opportunity to hear the keynote sessions together, providing the opportunity to reflect on these key messages also.

Our Keynote session will be delivered by Andy Mellor (Headteacher) and Rachel Townsend (Business Manager). Andy was president of NAHT until May 2019 and recently spoke at the Schools and Academies Show. He is a strong advocate for School Business Leaders being senior school leaders and will be delivering a session on how he has implemented this in his school.

You will also have the opportunity to take part in workshop sessions of your choice, details of which will be announced shortly and will be bookable in advance. Workshops will be focussed for each school phase, so there will be something for everyone.

Lunch and the afternoon sessions will be dedicated to Bursars and Business Managers as usual with a selection of a further two workshops and the regular slot from Sarah Rice to give you all the latest financial news and headlines.

Code: ESC/20/20 Managing Your Time Effectively (EVENT FULL)

Time pressures impact our work and personal lives as we aim to achieve higher levels of performance with less resource (time) to achieve it. The ability to manage time is an essential skill for effective people. Time management is not about cramming more work into your day, it is about doing better work, with less stress and knowing you have achieved what you set out to do.

Code: ESC/20/2 Equality & Diversity for Managers

It is the responsibility of all to act and lead by example in ways that support equality and diversity.  Successful organisations are the ones that reflect the richness of diversity in their workforce that exists in their local community. It takes account of people of different ages, appearances, genders, origins, cultures, race, geographical locations, health and mental health, relationships, sexual orientations, class, religion and beliefs, political beliefs, social and economic status and those with or without responsibilities for dependents. However, to be successful an organisation must first look to and understand its organisational culture.

Organisational culture refers to the collective beliefs and principles of an organisation. Every organisation has a unique culture and gives it a sense of direction which decides and controls the way its workforce behave among themselves and to those outside their organisation. Without understanding what its collective beliefs and principles are, an organisation could experience poor staff engagement, retention and services.

You will need to bring your own lap top on the day.
